Two incredibly gifted fashion designers and business partners are Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.

On November 14, 1962, Stefano Gabbana was born in Milan. He studied graphics before entering the fashion industry. On September 13, 1958, Domenico Dolce was born in Polizzi, Generosa, close to Palermo, Sicily. Dolce began working in the family's modest clothes store at an early age, exposing him to fashion at an early age.

In the late 1970s, the two met while working as designers at the same fashion house. Nevertheless, their relationship did not take off immediately. After a year, Dolce left this fashion firm, and the two didn't communicate for another year.

Dolce & Gabbana was influenced from the start by a specific group of powerful, self-assured, and artistically gifted women: Sicilian ladies. Dolce was not particularly fond of this style because she was born and raised in a Sicilian environment. At the time, a strong woman wearing pinstripes, chiffon, and a scarf was the quintessential Sicilian woman.

Dolce was persuaded by Gabbana to recognize the strength and influence of Sicilian style, and they began designing with the Sicilian woman in mind as a result.
